Actor Peter Wickham's dramatic and exciting new reading is marked by strong characterisation, pace and energy.  And he acts, rather than reads, the text.  Peter, a former member of the BBC Radio Drama Company, has made over 250 audiobooks and he brings this great experience to our double CD of Mark.

It's suitable for the classroom, for the general listener (it's a beautiful reading, in the tradition of the best talking books), and for the student revising for GCSE RS.

'Highly recommended' - thegoodbookstall.org.uk

'The students were enthralled.'

One comment from a teacher who recently played this CD to his class.

Teachers:

If you're looking for a resource to bring Mark's Gospel to life in the classroom...

and to make the text easier for your students to learn

- look no further!

Teachers:

We've had lots of excellent feedback from teachers of GCSE RS for this CD.  Lots of talking books of the Bible can be a bit flat and dull.  They're fine, but not exactly inspiring.  This one is different.  Peter Wickham's reading is genuinely dramatic, powerful, exciting, and the different characters in Mark's drama are strongly characterised.

It's a great resource for lessons.  It's even more helpful as a revision aid.  As you know, around 40% of the exam paper on Mark can simply test how well students know the text.  The way the CD's read makes the stories really memorable and helps them to lodge in the memory.

It will also be of great help to dyslexic students.

Some schools have bought sets for their classes to revise from.  We offer a 10% discount if you order 15 copies or more.

Other schools have asked students to buy their own copies.  Playing the CD is a painless way to revise.  We can help here.  We're aware that it can be a struggle for some families to shell out for extras like this.  If you have students in your class who are in this suituation, let us know.  If you order a class set, we can give you, free of charge, copies for them.  If you'd like to talk to us about this, please ring or email us.

Students:

If you're studying Mark's Gospel for GCSE, about 40% of the exam paper can simply be on how well you know what Mark says.

That's a lot of exam.

So, you need to know the extracts you're studying:  inside out, really.  Every detail you can remember helps:  the examiners give the highest marks to people who really know the text, rather than just remember the outline.

It can be very hard work to learn the text.  This CD will make it much easier.  It's a really dramatic recording and that makes it memorable:  you'll remember the way Peter Wickham performs the story.

Just email or ring us and we'll send you a copy, with your invoice / bill.

The more you listen to the CD before the exam, the more you'll know what Mark says when the exam finally arrives.  If you revise little and often, it's much more painless than trying to cram it all in at once.

And if you're bored with looking at the same old textbook and going over the same old material, it's worth getting a copy of our GCSE textbook, Mark: A Gospel for Today.  It includes lots of test yourself questions (and the answers!), so you can check how well you know the Gospel.

But if you have to choose between the two, we'd recommend getting the CD.  £1 from each copy sold goes to Christian Aid, a charity that helps people in LEDCs / the developing world.

Booksellers and libraries:

This CD is carried by many bookshops.  It's a first class audiobook, in the best tradition of talking books.  Mark's Gospel is the Gospel most commonly taken for GCSE;  around a quarter of a million young people are studying for GCSE RS in the UK at any given time.  So, although it's been enjoyed by the general reader, this CD is partly marketed at school students.  As such, it's very popular.  Worth stocking in the audio or homework section of any library, too.

It's carried by church and cathedral bookstalls and Christian bookshops, where it's popular.  The donation to Christian Aid makes it an attractive buy.  General bookshops also stock it in their audio section.

We offer good discounts to trade customers.  Please ring or email us.
